DO I NEED A PASSPORT
Yes! You need a passport to travel in and out of the United States. It should have 6 months validity which simply means that it should not be set to expire within 6 months of your travel date. If you don’t have one, you can get one a couple of ways. If you are traveling within 2-3 weeks or need to get a foreign visa within 4 weeks, you will need to apply in person at a Department of State Passport Agency. There is an expedite fee that you will have to pay so prepare for that and you’ll also need an appointment and proof of immediate travel too.
For more info or where to apply, check out https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/where-to-apply.html
If you don’t need it as quickly and/or are a first-time applicant, renewing your passport, applying for a 0-17 year old, etc., you can apply in-person, via mail at a Department of State Passport agency or a facility like the Post Office or Court Clerk Office.
All of this information can be found at https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports/information/where-to-apply.html.
Hope this helps!
DO I NEED A VISA AND WHAT IMMUNIZATIONS WILL I NEED?
Yes! In addition to your passport, you also need a visa. A visa is this stamp-like thing that’s placed on your passport which allows you entry and exit for a duration of time into another country not your own. A visa is needed to enter into quite a few countries on the continent. For our trip you will need a “Tourist Visa” for both Ghana and Nigeria. No need to worry though. Your package includes visa processing so we’ll take care of that for you.
Let us know if you need some assistance.
VACCINATIONS & IMMUNIZATIONS
For detailed information on immunization requirements, please refer to U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Travelers’ Health website.
Ghana requires all entrants to have a copy of their yellow card documenting their Yellow Fever vaccination.
When traveling to any destination, you should be up to date on all routine vaccinations. It is recommended that you take prescription Malaria medication before, during, and after your trip to prevent malaria. Please speak with your primary care physician or visit a travel clinic about a prescription.
ARE GHANA & NIGERIA SAFE?
Your security is of utmost importance to us. Accra and Lagos, are commercial hubs that are no strangers to foreign travelers and are not listed as areas of concern on the Department of State’s Travel Advisory.
Accra welcomes you with its beautiful beaches, monuments, history and traditions. Its rich history and vibrant color is sure to leave an everlasting impression of warm hospitality and rich culture.
Lagos serves as the commercial hub and melting pot of Nigeria where people from all over the world travel for business or leisure. The Nigerian people are one of the most hospitable people I have ever seen and you will ever meet. You’ll blend right on in as we shop, dine and explore. Come with an open mind and you’ll be just fine.
